Cumulative Update 03 for Dynamics 365 Business Central On Premises Available
Brian W notes: “BC14 CU2 has a bug in the Windows Client. It crashes when you print to a Windows print queue. You can still print to PDF, Word, and Excel. We opened a MSFT case and waiting to hear back if they will push out a fix prior to including it in CU3.” NOTE: This discussion occurred prior to the release of CU3. Cumulative Update 03 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC 14 on premises is available to download (Application Build 35602, Platform Build 35570). Business Central Now Naming AL Files According to BC15 Naming Standard
Kyle shares this update: “BC14.CU2 TXT2AL now names the AL files by the new BC15 naming standard. It still cannot put the FlowField property in the right place, nor put quotes around identifiers that have spaces, but it has new naming.”
Migrating Personalization Profiles
Constantine asks for assistance: “A client is looking for a migration tool that will help export/import end users’ personal customization of their Profiles. Please note that using Configuration Mode and the Import/Export Profile tools are insufficient for their requirements; they want to export the unique layout that an end user customized in their profile and then share it amongst other end users. They are on NAV 2016.”
Jon reflects: “From my attempt at doing this, it’s not possible. The metadata is some type of proprietary XML that is a giant hairball. Here’s a link to a post that is still relevant. The only way we’ve been able to do it is when upgrading from one DB to another, but, it’s also overwriting anything in the new DB. We’ve never been able to do it the way you are asking, but it would be a good app. 🙂 Maybe it’s possible in BC?

Kyle’s Favorite Windows Hotkeys
Kyle shares: “Developer Tip of the Day: Not really a developer tip. Some of my favorite Windows hotkeys:
- Windows-Key + M: hide all windows and show me the desktop
- Windows-Key + Home: Hide everything except the one window I have in the foreground
- Alt-Tab: cycle through open applications one by one
- Ctrl-Tab: cycle through tabs in your web browser”
Gwen confesses: “I learned Alt-Tab when I was 20, so I could quickly flip from Solitaire to…anything else, when my boss walked by. I trained the rest of the staff in this technique.”
Denise quips: “Where have I been…. Alt-Tab is my new hotkey!! But boss never walks by…hmmm.”
Kyle adds: “Alt-Tab also works in Visual Studio Code to switch between opened files.”
Michael chimes in: “Kyle, you’re just full of handy tips. Wasn’t aware of the Windows+Home. And I just found another…Windows + right arrow sets up split screen between the window currently focused and an Alt-Tab selection of other windows.”
Kyle adds more:
- Windows + Shift + Left Arrow – move the current app to the left monitor
- Windows + Shift + Right Arrow – move the current app to the right monitor
Jon joins the conversation: “Good one. Clicking and dragging is such a…well, drag.”
