Manufacturer of Life-Saving Gas Detection Equipment Achieves 25% Growth with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and ArcherPoint

About the Company
This U.S.-based manufacturer designs and services gas leak detection and air quality monitoring equipment, including combustible gas indicators, confined space monitors, vehicle-mounted methane detectors, air quality monitors, used by utility companies and first responders. The company’s products are critical to public safety and widely adopted by large utilities and local fire departments. In a market where reliability, calibration flexibility, and responsive service are essential, this company sets itself apart with a strong commitment to support and customer satisfaction.
The Challenge
Like many growing manufacturers, the company had outgrown its legacy ERP system, Sage 100. The lack of real-time data visibility was particularly problematic in key operational areas such as sales order processing, inventory management, and manufacturing planning.
Sales and shipping reports had to be generated manually each day, often with outdated data, making it difficult to forecast or respond to customer demand. Manual, paper-based invoicing and batch processing created bottlenecks, duplicated efforts, and introduced risks of delay and error.
With sales on the rise and increasing pressure to scale, the company needed a modern ERP solution that could streamline operations, provide real-time visibility, and support future automation and growth—without requiring a major increase in headcount.
“Since we first started BC, our sales have grown, up 25%... and that's with fewer people. We haven’t needed to hire more people, and we’ve been able to reassign staff to more meaningful work because so many tasks are now automated.”
Logan Fullenkamp, ERP Specialist at SENSIT
The Solution
The company evaluated several ERP solutions, including Sage X3, Optipro ERP, and Epicor. Ultimately, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS stood out—not only for its modern, cloud-based capabilities, but because it aligned with the Microsoft-first technology strategy of their parent company, Halma.
To implement Business Central and ensure a successful transition from Sage 100, the team selected ArcherPoint. After discovering the company through a web search and participating in a product demo, the team invited ArcherPoint to visit onsite, where a tailored walkthrough sealed the partnership. Working together, ArcherPoint implemented Business Central along with key add-ons to digitize and streamline core processes:
- Insight Works Warehouse Insight for mobile barcode scanning in the warehouse
- Dynamic Ship to simplify outbound shipping
- Continia Document Capture to automate accounts payable processes
Business Impact
The transformation was immediate and measurable. With Business Central live for just under a year, the company has seen:
- 25% growth in sales volume, with no corresponding increase in headcount
- A significant reduction in manual tasks, thanks to automation of sales orders and invoicing
- A time savings of ~5 minutes per order, eliminating the need to print, process, and manually enter shipping and invoicing information
- More than 1,500 sales orders per month, processed faster and with fewer errors
- Earlier order fulfillment, with most orders shipping 1–2 days faster than before
- The elimination of paper-based accounting and day-to-day reporting

What's Next
With a solid foundation in place, the company is continuing to build on its momentum with ArcherPoint. Key areas of focus include:
- Expanding automation efforts, including replacing spreadsheet-driven tasks with integrated workflows inside Business Central
- Digitizing the loaner program for sales reps—previously tracked in spreadsheets—to streamline checkouts, returns, and visibility
- Managing gas exchange programs for refillable calibration cells, creating better traceability for this high-volume, service-based offering
- Exploring an ISV solution for a customer self-service portal, allowing customers to view the status of service and repair orders, approvals, and part availability—reducing customer service calls and improving the overall customer experience
By continuing to automate and extend the value of Business Central, this manufacturer is positioning itself for long-term growth, improved service, and better visibility across the board.
