From Dynamics GP to Business Central: AP&G Catchmaster’s Modernization Story

From Dynamics GP to Business Central: AP&G Catchmaster’s Modernization Story

After more than 20 years on Dynamics GP, AP&G Catchmaster faced growing data inconsistencies, disconnected systems, and limited upgrade options. While day-to-day operations continued, inventory accuracy and reporting visibility remained persistent challenges.

In this client testimonial, the manufacturing and distribution leader shares why they’ve moved to Business Central—and how a flexible, non-traditional implementation approach with ArcherPoint by Cherry Bekaert is helping them modernize with confidence.

Legacy ERP challenges in manufacturing

Over time, the limitations of a heavily customized, legacy ERP environment became increasingly difficult to ignore:

  • Inventory inconsistencies between GP and their external WMS
  • Disconnected systems for forecasting and operations
  • Legacy data was carried over without cleanup
  • No structured data maintenance process
  • Limited visibility and reporting accuracy

While daily operations continued, the underlying data integrity issues created long-term inefficiencies—particularly around inventory accuracy.

With Microsoft announcing the end of life and support for GP, the timing was clear: it was time to move forward.

A self-directed ERP implementation strategy

Rather than pursue a fully outsourced implementation, AP&G chose a self-directed model—retaining ownership of the project while bringing in expert guidance where needed.

To make that approach successful, they needed a partner who could:

  • Provide targeted expertise in accounting, manufacturing, and third-party applications
  • Scale resources up or down as project demands evolve
  • Offer strategic guidance while allowing the internal team to lead the implementation

ArcherPoint’s size and flexibility made that possible. From supporting accounting processes to assisting with Insight Works apps and project management, the engagement expanded over time to meet the company’s changing needs.

Throughout the transition, ArcherPoint became a trusted resource, helping the team navigate everything from field-level questions to broader process-optimization decisions.

Solving inventory accuracy and data integrity issues

For AP&G Catchmaster, the move to Business Central is about more than just upgrading software; it’s about solving a long-standing pain point: inventory accuracy.

Without reliable inventory data, customer service suffers. Reporting suffers. Decision-making suffers.

Business Central represents an opportunity to:

  • Establish one source of truth across the organization
  • Eliminate external systems for forecasting and WMS
  • Improve reporting accuracy
  • Restore confidence in inventory visibility

For a manufacturing and distribution organization, that level of clarity is transformational.

A scalable partner for the long term

Beyond technical expertise, partnership fit played a major role in the decision.

ArcherPoint’s ability to:

  • Adapt to a self-implementation strategy
  • Provide accounting, manufacturing, and app support
  • Scale project management resources
  • Maintain a collaborative, calm working relationship

demonstrated that they were aligned not just for implementation—but for the future.

As Beth shares, having a knowledgeable team that can guide the process and reduce stress during a complex ERP transition is game-changing.

Full video transcript

My name is Beth Souchuns. I’m Director of IT Systems at APG Catchmaster, in New Jersey.

I’ve been with AP&G for 19 years.

AP&G is a pest control manufacturer. We are an adhesive-based pest control. We’re the leading manufacturer of adhesive-based pest management supplies.

So we’ve been on GP for a little over 20 years now. There are a lot of issues between our WMS system and GP. The data doesn’t communicate properly. There’s a lot of inventory inconsistencies. When we moved to GP, we dumped all of the legacy data into the new system. So there’s just a lot of data that’s not used, and there’s been no data maintenance either. There’s a lot of cleanup. There’s a lot of inconsistencies.

And with the end of life of GP coming, we’re really looking forward to moving to BC.

So, we decided to use ArcherPoint because we are going about our implementation in a non-traditional way. We’re trying to do a self-implementation, and because of that, we were looking for a larger partner that could give us support in non-traditional ways, in the areas that we were focusing on—areas we needed to focus on that we couldn’t support internally.

We actually did evaluate some other partners. I was not involved in the process at that point.

Internally, we have a couple people who know Jim Williams, and so we connected with him. Jim has been great, and honestly, personality-wise, it’s just a very good fit for our business. That was a big part of the decision as well.

Our SharePoint support through the implementation process has been amazing. Like I said, we’ve been doing this in a non-traditional way. One of the areas we needed help with was the accounting area. So we have been working with ArcherPoint for accounting for about a year now, and then we have brought on additional support for manufacturing processes and support for the Insight Works apps.

And now we’ve been using a lot more project management as well.

Now it’s just a little bit more all-encompassing.

ArcherPoint’s expertise has made so many differences. Like I said, again, we were learning about this in a non-traditional way, trying to do the self-implementation, so we’ve been able to work with ArcherPoint anytime we have questions or need troubleshooting.

There’s obviously a lot to know about an ERP system, and this being our first implementation, there’s obviously a lot to learn. So ArcherPoint has provided these resources for us on a daily basis in so many areas, from, “Hey, what does this field mean?” to, “Hey, what is this process and how should we fine-tune it, and is this the best way to do it?”

Helping us decide on the development that we should use—so many different areas.

I am most excited about Business Central being live for data integrity and accurate reporting. We have not had inventory accuracy really since I’ve been with the company, and it’s been a huge pain point for us. I was previously the Director of Customer Service, so to not have inventory accuracy is huge because we can’t provide our customers the support that they need.

Besides that, I’m also just looking for one source of data for everything and all of the processes in one system. Right now we have an outside WMS system. We do our forecasting outside of GP as well. So to be able to have one system where everyone can see the information and be able to answer questions instead of having to go to outside sources is going to be huge for us.

So beyond this implementation, I know that ArcherPoint is the right fit for us because of the support that they’ve provided us, and the fact that they have been willing to work with us when we’ve decided to do things in a different fashion. The size of the company and the way that they’ve been able to scale up the help that they have given us so far proves that they are there for the long haul and that they’re willing to work with us. That’s a perfect fit for a partner in the future.

I would most definitely recommend ArcherPoint as a partner.

Again, my experience with ArcherPoint has been amazing.

Everyone is so willing to help, and it’s been such an amazing fit. It’s been really fun to work with everyone at ArcherPoint. The personalities are amazing, which you need to be able to work through such a stressful project. So to be able to work with people who know what they’re talking about and who help us stay calm is game-changing.
