Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful

A Practical Guide to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV RoleTailored Client

“Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful!” I feel like this is what the Microsoft Dynamics NAV RoleTailored Client would say (if it could talk) to Classic Client users who are hesitant to move to it. Why is that? Today if you mention migrating to the RoleTailored Client in a room full of Classic Client users, you will get a mix of responses. People seem to really love it or hate it. Some people can’t wait to move to it and others are petrified of it. Attitudes are changing, and people are realizing that there are efficiencies that can be gained by moving to the RTC, but, unfortunately, the RTC is underappreciated because it is seen as just a pretty interface and not much more. The RTC has so much to offer. For example, did you know that:
  • The RTC allows you to save filters?
  • The search functionality lets you search for a page or list across all menus?
  • On list pages you can freeze columns like in Excel?
  • There are three ways to make role centers your own: personalization, configuration, and customization?
  • When a change is made by a developer, you will no longer lose the order of your columns?
  • You can give a manager or lead the ability to log in and configure a role for a group of users?
And that’s just the beginning. So, if you’re considering moving to the RTC and are still on the fence, we hope this will help you with your decision. If you’ve made the decision, we hope we can give you some advice that will make the implementation go smoother, and if you’re already a fan of the RTC, we hope we can provide you with some tips and tricks that can help you get more from your RTC. Most importantly, wherever you stand, we welcome your feedback, questions, input, advice, and concerns!
