Using KQL’s external data operator
The Kusto Query Language (KQL) makes identifying patterns and anomalies in structured and unstructured data easy. KQL’s externaldata operator returns a table comprised of data from an external data source, such as Azure Blob Storage or an Azure Data Lake.
Duilio Tacconi shows how to use the externaldata operator to retrieve the standard Business Central telemetry trace events that come from Azure Application Insights by issuing HTTP requests, transforming them into a JSON object, and creating a table, simplifying access to telemetry signals and their meanings.

Deprecating V2 triggers and actions in the Power Automate connector
Microsoft will be deprecating V2 triggers and actions in the Power Automate connector. That means they will be hidden and fully deprecated for the Business Central online connector and Azure Logic Apps workflows over the next year or so. Workflows using V2 triggers and actions should be replaced with V3 triggers and actions.
Stefano Demiliani reviews all the new V3 triggers and actions in his blog, Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power Automate connector: deprecation of V2 triggers and actions.
Contribute to the Business Central Base Application
In late 2022, Microsoft initiated an open-source program that allows Business Central partners and developers to contribute ideas and code to the Business Central Base Application, Business Central’s core functionality.
Brad Prendergast of DvlprLife.com shares his experience making a contribution that will appear in the April 2024 wave release of Business Central. He said, “The whole process took about six weeks and was well worth it. It was a fantastic experience that helped me drive towards better code, understand more of the process, and leave me proud to have contributed.”

Enums and Enum Extensions
What are the differences between Enums and Options? Will Enums replace Options? When should you use one over the other? What are the limitations of each?
Saurav Dhyani tackles these and other questions in his video tutorial, Mastering Enums and EnumExtension in Business Central.
