Dynamics Business Central / NAV Developer Digest - Vol. 508

ArcherPoint’s Developer Digest focuses on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV development. This week’s volume includes news on expanding the talent pool with #BCTalent, and new in BC25: Autonomous Agents and Embedded Power BI apps and reports.

BCTalent – reskill, upskill, cross-skill

There is a growing need for new talent in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central space. 1 in 3 job postings for Business Central go unfilled.

Reskill, the initial #BCTalent program, has been around for about a year and is designed to help train developers and consultants to come up to speed on the product quickly and be contributing team members.

The #BCTalent program also offers the Cross-Skill program to help train individuals already familiar with delivering business applications and the Upskill program to help recent graduates get started.

Autonomous agents in Business Central

Microsoft recently announced the availability of Autonomous Agents in Business Central, which can transform natural language prompts into meaningful results.

Alongside this capability, Microsoft has also introduced tools in Copilot Studio to help developers create their own AI-powered agents.

The latest release of Business Central (BC 25) includes new tools for creating autonomous agents:

  • Auto tools invocation – lets Copilot answer according to the user’s preferences, making the response seem more personalized.
  • Parallel function calling – lets Copilot perform functions in parallel and combine the results in its response.

Learn more about using these powerful new tools by reading Dmitry Katson’s blog, Tools for Agents.

New in BC25: Embedded Power BI

Microsoft has added embedded Power BI apps and reports in the latest Business Central release. Called Project Yellowstone, users and developers can take advantage of new Power BI capabilities across a wide range of functional areas, including Finance, Sales, Warehouse, Inventory, and Projects.

Microsoft provides tools to connect Business Central to Power BI, configure the connection, and embed reports into Business Central pages, plus templates that contain pre-built Power BI reports.
