Dynamics Business Central / NAV Developer Digest - Vol. 439

ArcherPoint’s Developer Digest focuses on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV development. This week’s volume includes news about Business Events, exporting data from BC to Excel, and great resources to expand your Business Central development learning.

The Dynamics 365 Business Central community comprises professionals devoted to advancing the success of their customers. Developers, project managers, and consultants collaborate to share helpful information across blogs, forums, and social media sites. From discovering new solutions to finding answers to complex issues, these dedicated individuals are constantly sharing their knowledge with others. At ArcherPoint, we recognize and appreciate this highly engaged community’s creativity, hard work, and collective intelligence. To ensure all users can benefit from their expertise, we want to share their wealth of information with everyone.

Business Events are now in public preview

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central tweeted: Business Events from #MSDyn365BC is now in public preview! Business events provide partners and customers with a mechanism for notifying/triggering their external systems (Dataverse and non-Dataverse) when actions are done on Business Central.

Export Data from Business Central to Excel

Business Central Geek Alberto Soben gives a great tutorial on exporting Business Central data to Excel. In addition to opening and editing in Excel, he also shows how to connect Excel to Business Central using an OData feed. In addition, he explains how to create a workflow using Power Automate that will bring data from Business Central into Excel. Other options include using Configuration Packages, Excel Reports, and the Excel Buffer table to import or export data to Excel.

Sharing knowledge with the NAV/Business Central community

We want to give a tip of the hat to Kris (Krzysztof) Bialowas. In a recent blog post, Kris discussed sharing knowledge among the Dynamics NAV and Business Central development community.

We want to second that.

At ArcherPoint, we believe sharing knowledge and best practices helps each of us in the community grow and provide better solutions. This Developer’s Digest is just one example of ArcherPoint’s core belief in sharing our knowledge with the NAV/Business Central community.

Read Kris’ blog, The one thing which grows by sharing is knowledge.

Speaking of sharing knowledge…

Steve Endow has a list of NAV and Business Central resources that is very useful. It contains links to Microsoft documentation and troubleshooting tips, training resources, forums, blogs, books, Twitter feeds, and more.
