ALERT: Deprecated tables will be removed in BC 2025 release wave 1
It is always great to see what’s new in a new release of Business Central.
However, in the upcoming release of Business Central 2025 release wave 1, perhaps the biggest news is what will NOT be in the new release.
Microsoft is removing deprecated tables and fields, and this action might break some AppSource and Per-Tenant Extension applications that still rely on the deprecated objects.
Microsoft is urging developers to validate their apps against the new release to ensure that any issues are identified and addressed as soon as possible.
Check out Microsoft’s blog, Essential Clean-Up Guide for Partners: 2025 Release Wave 1, to learn more.
See Deleted objects in 2025 release wave 1 for a list of the objects that will be deleted in this release.
Handling execution timeouts for long reports
There can be times when running extended reports in Business Central online that the reports do not complete. This is due to operational limits placed on the execution time for reports. If a report takes longer than 12 hours, it will be canceled.
Duilio Tacconi shows how to tackle this thorny issue. Read his blog, DIVIDE ET IMPERA: the surrealist history of a long report.
Creating a multi-level approval workflow in BC
There are times when payment requests must pass through two levels of approval before being authorized.
Mohana Yadav provides a video demonstration of how to create a multi-level approval workflow in Business Central. For more details, check out his blog, Multi-Level User Group Approval Workflows in Business Central.
Securing workflows in Business Central
When creating workflows in Business Central, developers can choose between using Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps. Both platforms are used in enterprise settings, but Azure Logic Apps provides better performance, scalability, and security.
Stefano Demiliani compares both platforms and provides guidance on how to configure Azure Logic Apps for your automated workflows.
To learn more, read his blog, Do you have strict security requirements for your workflows? Azure Logic Apps is the solution.
