PTE management is moving to the BC Admin Center

Per-Tenant Extensions (PTEs) are custom applications designed for a specific tenant or Business Central environment rather than being available publicly, such as applications on Microsoft’s AppSource.

Until recently, PTEs could be installed using the Extension Management page. Beginning with the Dynamics 365 Business Central 2027 wave 1 release (version 30), that function will be deprecated. Instead, users with Dynamics 365 Administrator or Dynamics 365 Business Central Administrator will be able to manage PTEs through the Business Central Admin Center. This includes uploading, upgrading, scheduling an installation, and uninstalling a PTE.

PTEs scheduled for installation from the Extension Management page are not visible from the Admin Center until after the extension is successfully installed. In the same way, PTEs scheduled for installation from the Admin Center are not visible from the Extension Management page until the PTE is successfully installed.

After 2027 wave 1 is released, PTE management will be restricted to the Admin Center.

Analysis Mode helps eliminate excessive Excel exports

In Dev Digest #558, we discussed using Analysis Mode in Business Central. Mohana Yadav continues the discussion by going under the hood, providing a clear explanation of how the Analysis Mode works.

Practical MB-800 guidance

MB-800 is Microsoft’s certification exam for the Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant Associate credential. It covers essential Business Central functions, such as setup (companies, security, system features), financial management (chart of accounts, bank accounts), operations (sales, purchasing, inventory), and data migration (import/export during implementation).

Stefan Šošić looks at 24 BC scenarios and walks through the logic to arrive at the correct answer from the practice material. As he puts it, “The answer is the least interesting part; what matters is the mechanics underneath.”
