ArcherPoint Dynamics NAV Developer Digest - vol 263
The NAV community, including the ArcherPoint technical staff, is made up of developers, project managers, and consultants who are constantly communicating, with the common goal of sharing helpful information with one another to help customers be more successful.
As they run into issues and questions, find the answers, and make new discoveries, they post them on blogs, forums, social media…so everyone can benefit. We in Marketing watch these interactions and never cease to be amazed by the creativity, dedication, and brainpower we’re so fortunate to have in this community—so we thought, wouldn’t it be great to share this great information with everyone who might not have the time to check out the multitude of resources out there? So, the ArcherPoint Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developer Digest was born. Each week, we present a collection of thoughts and findings from NAV experts and devotees around the world. We hope these insights will benefit you, too.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2019 Wave 2 Released
Saurav shares his blog: “Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2019 release Wave 2 is released! C/AL is gone, and the RTC is gone.” See the blog for links to Docker images and available localized versions.
Kyle is excited: “***squeee**** #calsucks”
Business Central 14 Cumulative Update 5 Available
Kyle gives an update: “CU5 is out for BC14” Find the details in the Microsoft support post, Cumulative Update 05 for Dynamics 365 Business Central Spring 2019 Update on-premises.
Print Only As a Report Output Option?
Kyle asks: “Is there a way to prevent an AL/RDLC report from allowing the user to Save As Excel or Save As (whatever)? I just want Print to be the only output option.”
Matt T replies: “I don’t think so. There are options on the service tier, but they can’t be updated at run time and only affect the whole system.”
Bill W offers: “Check out CU 8810 and Report 1316. You might be able to set up something similar and pare the options down to just Print.”
Business Central 15: Docker Images Now Available
Bill Warnke shares: “BC 15 Docker images are now available:
Tags for on-prem: 15.0.36560.0-na: https://hub.docker.com/_/microsoft-businesscentral-sandbox
Tags for SaaS: 15.0.36590.0-us or update30-us: mcr.microsoft.com/businesscentral/sandbox:update30-us-ltsc2019
OnPrem Installer: https://mbs.microsoft.com/partnersource/northamerica/support/support-news/bconpremdownload_2019_wave2
Kyle questions: “Does that mean BC15 has been released?”
Bill responds: “Yep. We’ll see how fast they start pushing SaaS updates, but they did send out notifications last week that apps weren’t compatible, so it looks like they have intentions of starting right away. Without C/AL, I can get a BC 15 container in about 30 seconds.”
Kyle replies: “Yeah, but it can’t work until you pull out all of the AL, make a project, and do a publish.”
