Bills of Material in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Bills of Material in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

In D365 Business Central, there are two types of Bills of Material:

  • Production BOM: can be used in conjunction with routings and is typically used in manufacturing goods. The production BOM has more complex costing and can be used with subcontractors.
  • Assembly BOM: A more simplistic way of kitting or assembling, where you need to track the time/cost of the person putting together (or taking apart) the item(s).

This video will provide an overview and compare the two types of BOMs in D365 Business Central, as well as look briefly into routings.
