Dynamics Business Central / NAV Developer Digest - Vol. 501

ArcherPoint’s Developer Digest focuses on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV development. This week’s volume includes security in Azure Logic Apps, Microsoft SLAs and refunds, and managing report substitutions dynamically in Business Central.

The Dynamics 365 Business Central community, consisting of developers, project managers, and consultants, collaborates across various platforms to share valuable insights. At ArcherPoint, we greatly value their dedication and expertise. To ensure widespread access to this technical knowledge, we created Developer Digest.

Increase security in Azure Logic Apps

Azure Logic Apps provides the means to integrate Business Central with a number of external systems. Users can create workflows using the HTTP connector and the Business Central connector, which is also available in Power Automate. However, unlike Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps supports restricting access to a workflow by IP addresses. This can be a game changer when connecting Business Central to organizations with strict security demands, like banks or public entities.

Stefano Demiliani demonstrates how to use this feature in his blog, Azure Logic Apps workflows: restrict access by IP ranges.

Microsoft Service Level Agreements and Refunds

Microsoft runs a tight ship when it comes to its online environments. Outages are rare and typically don’t last long before service is restored. Microsoft’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) offers a full or partial refund for Business Central clients who suffer outages due to lack of access.

But outages do happen.

So, how exactly does one go about applying for a refund from Microsoft for a service interruption?

Duilio Tacconi provides an illuminating real-life walkthrough of Microsoft’s refund process. He discusses what is covered under the refund policy, what is not covered, and how the refund process works.

Check out his blog, Online Outages and Request for Refund, to learn more.

Manage report substitutions dynamically in Business Central

Using the OnAfterSubstituteReport event is a convenient and powerful way to substitute one report for another at runtime. Unfortunately, it requires that the code be modified every time there is a report substitution.

Mohana Yadav demonstrates using a custom table to manage report substitutions dynamically through the UI without code modifications. This process simplifies the process and is easier to maintain.
