Dynamics Business Central / NAV Developer Digest - Vol. 545

ArcherPoint by Cherry Bekaert’s Developer Digest focuses on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV development. This week’s volume includes the benefits of dedicated Azure Storage Accounts, fun with BC Telemetry Buddy gets serious, and connecting agents to Business Central.
The Dynamics 365 Business Central community, consisting of developers, project managers, and consultants, collaborates across various platforms to share valuable insights. At ArcherPoint, we greatly value their dedication and expertise. To ensure widespread access to this technical knowledge, we created Developer Digest.
Benefits of dedicated Azure Storage Accounts
Having a dedicated storage account provides significant performance improvements. The savings on operational overhead can far outweigh the additional cost. Dedicated storage accounts also allow your Azure Functions platform to scale.
Stefano Demiliani takes a deep dive into why Azure Functions need storage, how to configure both a shared and dedicated storage account, and a performance analysis of both configurations.
In a postscript, he notes that you can switch from a shared storage account to a dedicated one without requiring redeployment or downtime.
To learn more, read Demiliani’s blog, Storage Account Configuration in Azure Functions: impact, best practices, and scalability.
In a separate but related blog, Demiliani notes that by February 3, 2026, applications using an Azure Storage Account should use TLS 1.2 or later. For more on this topic, read Do you have applications connecting to an Azure Storage Account? Be sure to use TLS 1.2 or later.
Fun with BC Telemetry Buddy gets serious
While showing off his AI-driven BC Telemetry Buddy for his 12-year-old son, Waldo uncovered a serious customer issue. In his blog, BC Telemetry Buddy – When Your 12-Year-Old Accidentally Helps You Find a Problem, Waldo walks through the debug process to find the problem and how it was corrected.
In addition, he shows the process that would have been required to arrive at the same solution without BC Telemetry Buddy.
It’s a good read and shows the usefulness of the tool. And be sure to read Dev Digest 541 and Dev Digest 543 to find out more about Waldo’s BC Telemetry Buddy.
Connecting agents to Business Central
Toward the end of 2025, Microsoft introduced the Business Central MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server, and, in December, added the BcMCPProxy library that allows connections from Claude Desktop or VS Code to the BC MCP server.
Dmitry Katson has developed a BC MCP Server proxy that allows any AI agent to connect to Business Central.
In his blog, Connect Any Agent to Business Central, Dmitry shows how to install and configure the proxy and offers advice on optimizing agent behavior.
