Dynamics Business Central / NAV Developer Digest - Vol. 513
ArcherPoint’s Developer Digest focuses on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV development. This week’s volume includes granting partner access to BC environments, subscription billing in v25, and practical AFS scenarios.
The Dynamics 365 Business Central community, consisting of developers, project managers, and consultants, collaborates across various platforms to share valuable insights. At ArcherPoint, we greatly value their dedication and expertise. To ensure widespread access to this technical knowledge, we created Developer Digest.
Allow partner access to BC environments
New in Business Central 2024 wave 2 (v25) is the ability for customers to authorize their partners’ access to Business Central. According to Microsoft, this feature makes it easy for BC customer administrators to grant their partners access to their environments. This feature is particularly useful for customers with multiple environments who work with many partners. Administrators can assign partners to each environment.
In a recent blog, Stefano Demiliani discusses Partner Access and gives some advice on how customers can use this feature effectively. By default, Business Central environments allow all partners with whom the customer has a delegated admin relationship to access every environment in the tenant. This feature allows the customer’s internal administrator to grant specific partner Entra tenants to administer and access a particular BC environment.

Subscription billing in v25
Subscription billing is new in BC v25 and provides useful functions for users who need it. But for those who don’t—whether they already have a solution they are happy with or simply don’t need the functionality—the app is included by default in Business Central.
The problem is that removing the Subscription Billing app does not remove everything; the user will have to manually remove the app’s changes to the environment.
Microsoft is aware of the issue. Until the problem is resolved, however, Waldo provides helpful information on how to clean up after removing Subscription Billing.

Practical AFS scenarios
Azure Storage allows developers to access files securely from anywhere in the world. Roberto Stefanetti gives practical examples of using the AFS File Client in Business Central to read Excel files from a directory, process them, and then archive them.
Read his blog, Business Central Codeunit “AFS File Client” – usable with SaaS Token and Shared Key, to learn how to take advantage of this tool.
