Issue with Production Journal Numbering Out of Sync During Posting

Kate Morgen asks: “Anyone ever run into production journals being out of sync with numbering when trying to post? We have the manufacturing set up as Doc No is Prod Order with No turned on. We have played around with the No Series default and manual numbering, and tried different settings in the item journal template but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?”

She soon shares the answer: “Here’s the solution: If the ‘Doc No is Prod Order No’ is turned on and number series are set in the manufacturing setup, the No. Series and Posting No. Series fields on the item journal templates for the production order journal need to be blank. Any related item journal batches also need to have the number series as blank. Thanks to Dana Rethoret for finding this under a Google search using Microsoft NAV rather than Business Central – smart!”

Disabling or Hiding the +New Button on an Item Lookup Page in Business Central

The question was asked: How can I disable/hide the +New button on an item lookup page?”

Kyle Hardin replies:Page properties? Set the permissions such that only read access is possible from that page.

Tom Hunt responds: “I think the InsertAllowed property on the page will do it. Set it to False, and you should be OK.”

Inventory Opening Balances for Lot (or Serial) Tracked Items

Heinrich Vermeulen shares this about inventory uploading: “I had to assist a colleague in ArcherPoint recently with this. Found a great article (from Manish Prasad in the Dynamics 365 Business Central Forum) that spells out the how-to on this. Hope it can help someone else: Opening Inventory Uploading with Bin Code and Lot number.

Brenda Emond responds:Thanks for your help, Heinrich! It’s good to know that the reservation entry table and item journal were the trick for the item tracking.”
