Directions NA 2024: Exciting New Features for Business Central with More on the Way!
Directions North America 2024 was held April 14-17 in San Diego, California. Directions is sponsored by the Microsoft Dynamics partner community and is designed to help Dynamics partners grow and learn together.
This year was the highest-attended Directions event with over 1800 registered attendees and more than 200 sessions targeting developers, solution architects, project managers, and sales and marketing professionals.
Exciting enhancements coming
Not surprisingly, generative AI and Copilot took center stage throughout the event. The opening keynote showed how integrating Copilot across the Dynamics and Power Platform products helped increase operational efficiency and customer engagement. The keynote also stressed the new native integration between Dynamics 365 Field Service and Business Central.
The keynote also mentioned upcoming investment areas for Business Central 2024 wave 2, including:
- Regulatory requirements
- Field Service integration with Service Management
- Ability to transfer Business Central environments
- Generative AI enhancements for Copilot, such as:
- Ability to create sales orders from Chat sessions
- Drag and Drop capabilities in the Prompt Dialog
- Payment reconciliation
- Power BI reporting
- Data analysis
- Better Copilot performance and scalability
Microsoft is also enhancing Business Central to handle large customers, including:
- Increasing its operational limits
- Improving its load balancing
- Increasing the number of simultaneous users
- Increasing the database capacity
- Increasing the 80GB per tenant limitations
- Better Dataverse integration
Microsoft also offers new incentives for new and existing D365 Business Central users.
Overall, this year’s Directions North America showed partners that Microsoft continues to innovate Business Central and enhance Copilot’s capabilities to work with Business Central and the Power Platform. Business Central users can expect to see more intelligent features and functions in the coming months.
